The creative and interactive interests of Linkers expand far beyond our day-to-day projects and into our personal lives. On any given weekend, you might catch us launching personal e-commerce websites for our watchband-selling spouses, participating in the creative planning for our home church or making elaborate home movies with our kids. We’re passionate about what we do and it shows in our extra-curricular activities.
Recently, Rick Lopez from our video production team and Bobby Arispe from our Creative team joined Hidden Track Films led by directors Kim Scott and Chris Pichado to compete in the 48 Hour Film Project. The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a local theater, usually in the next week. In 2010, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in 80 cities on five continents. This year, they’re even bigger, with filmmakers around the world taking the challenge to make a film in just 48 hours.
Rick told us about how he got involved: "I'm familiar with Kim's photographic skill set, and I've seen some video work that she was experimenting with. I am very impressed with her eye for beautiful and artistic composition, so I had no problem agreeing to advise the production and edit the film."
About a week before the crazy weekend began, Hidden Track Films created a video to help warm up the team to the film process and also double as a recruiting video to invite anyone to come and help. Rick recorded the sound and provided some camera work, and Bobby was one of the camera operators as well as a production assistant.
On the final production of the contest film, Bobby provided the Art Direction as well as acted as First Assistant Director. Rick is credited as Editor, Associate Producer and Technical Director. Even Creative Link got a special spot on the team for providing the office space and edit suite for the post-production on the project. All in all, it was a wonderful collaborative project of 28 very talented people.
We're excited to feature their final product:
